A little magic goes a long way.
I’ve been a football fan for as long as I can remember. It all started with the Denver Broncos. As a kid my brother and I would take our orange shirts, turn them inside out and use masking tape to put the number 7, or 77, or whomever we were playing as that day on the back. Sometimes we’d even put a number 1 and take off one shoe. Rick “the bare foot kicker” Karles.
The fun part about pretending to be a Denver Bronco back in the 80′s was that the Broncos were pretty good back then. They made it to the Super Bowl 3 times in 4 years (lost all of them) but had so many magical moments. That’s really what made me a fan.
The other day, ESPN 2 rebroadcast “The Drive” which has been one of the most magical Broncos memories in history. As I watched that game as an adult, I got vivid memories of the first time I saw it, on the TV in my living room, with my dad yelling at the TV every time something would happen, good or bad.
This past Saturday I experiences my first Seahawk magic. In all the games I’ve watched, I’ve never seen a truly magical moment that went in favor of the Seahawks. Last weeks win over Dallas there were two; The saftey on the Terry Glen fumble, and the bobbled field goal snap by Tony Romo.
It’s moments like these that are what the fans live for. I, for one, hope the Seahawks can create some more magic. Maybe they’ll even get the SuperBowl win they should have got last year. Here’s hoping for some more magic!
