A snuggley outfit!

Sweet! This gives us a chance to take some more pictures!

Rogan is sporting his whale encrusted blue cotton jacket with reverse-able sea creature lining, large blue striped pants inspired by Jeffrey Sebelia (Project Runway) and rocker hairdo straight from the clubs of Las Vegas.

Looking sharp kid, looking sharp! Next we'll teach you Blue Steel.]]>

It's a wonder how Andrea get's any sleep at all.

I think the picture says it all.

Andrea has found new coping methods to get through the day. Rogan enjoys the Baby Bjorn carrier. Andrea enjoys it too because she has 2 free hands! Amazing.

The Baby Bjorn in action.

Not to be outdone by Andrea's smile, Rogan has to put on a little face for the camera. I think he's starting to recognize when he's on camera as lately he's been staring right at it. Either that or he's found something shiny that he can focus on now! :)

One Month Checkup

Rogan also had his first shot. It went well, the prick was nothing, but once he felt the medicine, he got a little fussy. A quick band-aid and he was back to looking like this…

Always old enough to party!

I thought it was a good idea to decorate the pie with a binky, how do you think it turned out? :)

Look at Rogan's new hat!

Cute Family Photo.

According to the books and friends and family, Andrea and I have a lot of cool things to look forward too in month two. For one, Rogan's ability to track things will improve. It's getting better already as you can see from the pictures below of him in his swing. We can also look forward more cooing, a real smile, and him starting to grab for things.

Yo, how's the air up there?

Now how am I going to get that into my mouth? (paying homage to the classic, Look Who's Talking)

There are some videos of the event up on RoganVision.

Happy one-month birthday little man!

Being away…

This week I attended the Flashforward conference in Boston. It's a great place for me to meet other industry professionals, get inspiration and advance my career. The conference lived up to my expectations and exceeded them in many cases, but the thing that threw me was how much I missed Rogan and Andrea. I was surprised at how ready I was to come home even before the conference was over.

Even while I was having a great time with my peers and learning exciting new things, I was a lonely. I did get a little baby fix in though. I met up with some friends Jesse and Jessi and their little boy Eamon. It was really cool to see how big they get at one year old. Yikes!!! Meeting up with them was enough to give me my fix of baby for the first day. It was day two that really got to me. I called Andrea up twice a day just to stay close and see how she was doing. She had help from Nana while I was gone. That made it much easier to leave in the first place knowing she wasn't alone.

Before I left I asked Andrea to send lots of picture messages to my phone, help me feel like I was there. (again multimedia phones = good). She did, and it helped, but still there was something missing. The pictures are super cute though! Take a look.

Rogan's bright eyes :)

I bet that was a fun walk.

I think someone has a new friend.

I also found another way to help me feel closer. Talk about them. I had a new networking icebreaker; my family. Many of the people attending this conference have families and it was something other than Flash that we could talk about passionately. Typically I'd be the one brining it up because I'm so excited about Rogan. But you could see peoples faces light up when they saw how excited I was about my newborn child. It brought them back to a time when their child was new. It made for some great conversations and some real connections where there could have easily been superficial ones.

Bottom line, I missed my family while I was gone and writing this blog post sitting in the airport waiting to board makes me happy.

I'll be home soon.

A healthy interest

He really likes the blinking lights on the star. It blinks in time to the music it plays. Yesterday when I was sitting with Rogan I was trying to explain the musical terms for the variations he was hearing. “That is called an arpeggio and that is a minor chord.” It really doesn't matter if he remembers or not, it was fun for me to try to remember what everything was.

He likes the music and lights so much that they put him to sleep!

All together now…”Awwwwwwwwww”

I can't wait to see what toys he really likes when he can actually move around to select something himself.

Also, Rogan has continued to get some new, and novel, clothes from his loving grandparents. This hat was selected special by Grandpa Steve for this upcoming Halloween. Boo!

As a side note: It's really cool to have multimedia phones. The pictures you see above were all taken using a camera phone. The play-mat pictures were taken today by Andrea. She sent them to me at work so that I could post them for you all. Even when I'm not home, I can see my family. Sometimes technology is freakin' cool!]]>

Three generations of Davidsons

Three generations of Davidsons under one roof.

It was a special weekend. My dad finally got to see his grandson. I have to say that I finally understand how excited the grandparents are. They have all been really excited when Rogan is around, but usually there are more than one of them so their excitement is spread around a bit. This weekend I got to see my Dad alone with Rogan and I finally realized how all the grandparents were feeling. It was magical to see my dad's eyes light up when he saw Rogan. It really reminds me that they won't be this little forever and as his parents we need to cherish every moment.

Also, my dad had his camera so we have lots of new pictures. How about this gem! Superbaby indeed! :)

“Ummm..can someone tell me how to get off the ceiling here?”

“Hey, I got the shoes…now lets get me a football to kick eh?”

Rogan enjoyed his first Broncos game this weekend. The Broncos won in dramatic fashion over the Bills. It's always nice to have someone else to cheer with. Get um started early! And in classic Davidson fashion, he had something to say when the Ref's made a bad call…

“Yo Ref, My three week old eyes can see that was a holding! Come on!!!!”]]>

I’m gonna wash that black right outta my hair!

Thirty seconds after this picture was taken, Andrea felt something warm. We're marking this occasion as the first time Rogan peed on his mommie. :)

Andrea and Nana gave Rogan a bath today and the most astonishing thing happened…they washed the black right out of his hair!

Take a look! The red is showing through now! Look out world, here he comes!

Who else got 7 hours sleep?

On a very happy note, Rogan's Jaundice is visibly gone. He's putting on some weight now and you can see him filling out. He is sleeping longer and playing more! He's still not really interested in anything but sucking, but he is getting much better at getting his thumb into his mouth. Self-comforting = good for parents :) He's also getting more comfortable on his back which is great. Once he can spend any lengthy amount of time on his back we'll start sleeping him on his own. Right now, he doesn't last very long sleeping on his back unless we're holding him.

A thoughtful day…what shall I do first, eat, sleep or poop?

Since I've been back to work he's had a pretty regular night time sleep schedule. He gets some dinner around 8-8:30 and then I rock/bounce him around a bit until he starts to nod off. Then I move to the nursery and use the glider until both of us are asleep. This gives Andrea some time to get ready for bed and get at least some sleep without Rogan. Around 12:30 Rogan is ready for his midnight feeding. I hand him off to Andrea and he usually feeds for about 15-20 minutes and then falls asleep in another 10-15. After that he's out until 3:30 usually! Not bad for 2 weeks old! He wakes up and has another 15-20 min feeding and then it's back to sleep until usually around 5:30 (whey my alarm goes off). Not bad. I've got around 7 hours of sleep both nights. Not consecutive of course, but still.

I know I know…enough with the words…I'll get some new pictures up soon! We're going to a Picnic tonight, and my father is coming out to meet his Grandson. There will be plenty of Kodak moments this weekend for sure!
